BOOKED!! Called Icelandair on 7/5 for them to add my KTN # to my reservation for TSA pre-check. Unfortunately, there is no way to add this on your own their their website or the app. You have to call their customer service at 1-800-223-5500 and select option 1. I was on hold for 30mins before i was helped. There customer service call volume always appears to be high, so expect to have to wait.

As of June Iceland gas prices are $2.639/litre or $10/gal. Figure the SUV is going to be a 15-17gallon vehicle. Looking at roughly $160 per fill up. 50min drive from Reykjavik (very close to the airport). https://www.icelandtravel.is/attractions/bridge-between-continents/#:~:text=The%20Bridge%20Between%20Continents%20is,an%20hour's%20drive%20from%20Reykjavik. [ Google Review ] It’s worth your time to go see. There is a metal bridge over the divide. There is black sand on the ground - really think sand. It’s the type of sand you find on the beaches here. There are padlocks on the bridge starting a trend, which is nice but takes away from the beauty of the bridge. Definitely go see if you have time. If you don’t, don’t worry. It’s one you can miss and just look at the photos to not miss out.
[ Google Review ] Always convenient. Well priced and offers a wide variety of options. Nice to pick up items before a trip and as gifts to take home. Sam's notes: From google reviews, it looks like this grocery store has a good offering and is affordable. :) BONUS (no pun intended lol) it's an 8min walk from the airbnb's we're looking at.
[ Google Review ] Beautiful minimalist church. So minimalist it’s a bit of a shock after visiting many ornate churches in Paris. The architecture is a representation of the tallest waterfall in Iceland. There was a free organ concert on their powerful organ. Also recommend going to the top of church tower for a 360 view of Reykjavík, bay, and mountains. The second tallest building in Iceland Ticket Price for Tower: Adults: ISK 1200 ($9.00 USD) Mass in English : 14:00 - 15:00 (2pm-3pm) • Only showing hours through
[ Google Review ] 2022.09 I won’t say they are the best, but they are good. I spot 2 different from their hot dog. 1) their sauce, there is a light brown sauce, can’t tell what it is, they a also have honey mustard, and raw onion. 2) the hot dog itself is not salty, not like other beef sausage . local currency 400 each, a very reasonable amount.
[ Google Review ] Loved watching the midnight sun reflect off of the side of this stunning building! Also very nice to check out the inside too. Nice variety of music and entertainment options. The parking garage was also very easy to navigates with lights annotating available spots. The truth is, this building is a piece of art. So take a few minutes or a few hours and visit Harpa. It's free to enter, just walk in and take look around or a participate in one of the numerous activities and events they have going on Took a look to see what events are happening during that Saturday or Sunday we are in the city to see if there might be something fun to get tickets to. • Carius and Baktus - theatre (this looks super weird haha) • Footage - concert (Pulled them up in Spotify, and not getting the impression this is our kind of music lol)
BOOKED!!! 12min drive from downtown Reyk. Pure Pass = $77/person - most classic and popular package for those wanting to experience the Ritual. PACKAGE INCLUDES: Sky Lagoon Admission Complete seven-step Ritual Public changing facilities Towel Take your journey deeper and further. Our elevated option includes the Ritual and private changing facilities. https://www.skylagoon.com/packages/ Looks like we could stay as long as 5hours. Most people stay anywhere from 1.5 - 3hrs. If we want to enjoy the lagoon during sunset, do we choose a 5:30pm slot of sunset is around 6pm in Iceland towards the later half of September? The 7 step ritual i believe starts with us in the lagoon. [ Google Review ] Amazing! The lagoon has been created in a wonderful way. They carefully thought about the whole experience, from entree to exit. The public changing rooms feel comfortable and spacious. There are a lot of shower cabins that give you privacy. The 7 step ritual was a great addition to the experience. Especially having a great view over the ocean from the large window in the sauna. The below pass only makes sense if we didn't have a rental car and needed transportation. Sky Lagoon Sky Pass with Transfer = $122 Booking shows bus stop / pick up locations in Reyk https://www.skylagoon.com/transfer-sky/

Room With a View Hotel is proud to offer a variety of modern, bright, spacious hotel rooms providing our guests with a pleasant experience. All of our guests can experience a comfortable hotel stay in the heart of Reykjavik, located ideally on the middle of Laugavegur – the most famous shopping street in Iceland. Choose from a selection of stylish standard double / twin rooms or fabulous suites on the top floor to compliment your trip to Iceland. Hotel link: https://www.roomwithaview.is/ The space A modern decorated Double or Twin room, with a size of 19m2 ,can accommodate up to 2 guests. The bedding can be arranged with 2 twin beds with a size of 90x200 cm or a double bed with a size of 180x200 cm. There is a private bathroom with a shower, where Nordic toiletries are supplied. Moreover, the room is equipped with a mini-fridge, safety deposit box. Staying in touch was never easier with a flat-screen TV with international channels, smart phone for free internal/local calls and use of apps, and high speed complimentary WiFi. Paid parking off premise an option (i.e. street parking in reykjavik) For this hotel, I think we'd be looking at an orange or pink/red parking zone. If in pink/red, we could be looking at paying $12 for Saturday parking and then Sunday is free! If we parked in zone 4 (orange) it's free parking on Saturdays. See below for details. General Reyk street parking details I've found: In Reykjavik, there are four different parking zones, each of which have different charges and different rates depending on their location. Parking zones in Reykjavik are clearly marked with “P” parking signs. The “P” will always be followed by a number from 1 - 4 which relates to how expensive their hourly parking rate is. P1 - Red and pink zone: 250 ISK (1.8 EUR) per hour P2 - Blue zone: 125 ISK (0.90 EUR) per hour P3 - Green zone: 90 ISK (0.60 EUR) per hour P4 - Orange zone: 125 ISK (0.90 EUR) per hour but only on weekdays Areas P1, P2, and P3 are payable from 09:00 to 18:00 on weekdays and 10:00 to 16:00 on Saturdays. Outside of these hours it is free. P4 zones are payable from 08:00 to 16:00 Monday-Friday only. Outside of these hours, and on weekends, it is free. Here's a link that shows what areas in Reyk are in which color zone. https://www.lotuscarrental.is/blog/parking-in-reykjavik?gclid=CjwKCAjw5NqVBhAjEiwAeCa97VwouWJ5zbQWEuGnZszbcYZ1ATymnC9nHMiPyJYVoD0na-8ZZb7RzRoCtdUQAvD_BwE Looks like most meters and/or parking stations take visa or MC (no American express), however, some machines might be older so we should make sure we have coins on us just in case.
The capital’s north-westernmost point. There’s minimal light pollution along this stretch. On clear nights with a good forecast, you have a great shot at spotting the northern lights. 8min drive from the heart of Reykjavík Could drive here after Sky Lagoon time if we were feeling it.
[ Google Review ] Very quite and peaceful. One of the best backdrops for the northern lights in Reykjavik is here. 9min drive from the heart of Reykjavík. It's in Seltjarnarnes (experience listed before this) Could drive here after Sky Lagoon time if we were feeling it.
[ Google Review ] Chocolate bars are very good, but the ice cream is nothing special other than the presentation. The ice cream is a lot if you're one person, so I recommend sharing. I wish this were done as a collaboration with a local ice cream place that makes their own ice cream. That would make it extra special. Location is a bit out of the way and bars are cheaper at Bonus, but it was still nice to visit. The chocolate and packaging are both quite nice and I plan to buy a few bars before heading back home.
[ Google Review ] I was exploring Reykjavik when I came across this store ( needed a snack). I love the black and white tile on the floor ( very cool 😎 ). Lots of cool stuff, great assortment of local chocolate. I picked up a drink and a yogurt ( vanilla) so good. They had some sandwiches as well, really cool store. 1min walk from Room With a View hotel if we choose to book one of those airbnb options.
[ Google Review ] It's a unique experience of a grocery store, with a lot of products you wouldn't find anywhere else, including some great olive oils, hot sauces and sodas. However, they do occasionally sell spoiled foods Sam's notes: Looks like a grocery store vs corner market with a larger food offering to choose from. 12min drive from the airbnb options we have listed so far. 22min walk (not bad if we don't want to lose our parking spot)
[ Google Review ] It was very easy and the driver picked us up exactly when scheduled. They pick you up then drop you at the main bus station, you then walk through the terminal to the bigger bus outside. Recommended / affordable transportation from the Keflavik, Iceland airport to Reykjavik (45min ride) https://adventures.is/iceland/flybus-airport-transfer/flybus-airport-to-bsi-bus-terminal/ $27 one way. This would be an option for us if we chose not to get a rental car directly after landing.

[ Google Review ] I would love to visit one day Article of things to do / see while visiting the Snaefellsnes Peninsula
[ Google Review ] Epic in every way. It has everything Iceland can offer. Glaciers, volcanoes, lava fields....truly full of awe. 1hr drive from the sword bridge to Djupalonssandur-Dritvik trailhead. A 2.1mile moderate loop hike.
This is the bridge that has the shape of a sword, a reminder of their viking history! Can be taken to get to the Snaefellsjokull National Park Almost 2.5hrs from Rek.

[ Google Review ] Very friendly staff and rapid service despite being busy. We ordered a Cinnamon Roll and it was probably the best I've ever had. Soft, moist, perfectly sweet with just the right amount of cinnamon... It was still warm from the oven and had flavour in every bite! We should go here for coffee and a treat. Hours: Saturday and Sunday 6:30AM–5PM
[ Google Review ] Really a beautiful place to visit and have a small walk. The landscape is amazing and very interesting to look at, so if you’re close to the national park you should stop and pay a visit. There’s also a beautiful look out spot in the park, where there’s a small parking lot so you can get out and enjoy the view of the lake. 45min drive from Reykjavik If we wanted to do the geo thermal baking 11:30am time slot, could we aim to get to the NP park by 6:30am? So leave Reyk by 5:30amish... Spend 4-4.5hrs hiking the park Then we could enjoy the mineral pools, steam baths, and sauna's post bakery tour around 12:30pm for a few hours. Aim to leave by 3pm and head towards Vik?

[ Google Review ] Nice place to combine with the spa next door. Super tasty food and really friendly host! We had the beef dish (steak duo) and reindeer burger with ciders. Potential dinner option for us that night. Unsure of cost. To be safe, should we assume $60/person?

[ Google Review ] Pretty busy and touristy, but an incredible sight that is worth it. Icelands most iconic waterfalls • 1.3-mile out-and-back hike near Bláskógabyggð, Southern. 30min drive from Laugarvatn More info: https://icelandtrippers.com/gullfoss-waterfall-iceland/ Don't imagine we would spend more than 2 hours here. Aim to leave the falls by 11:30am/12pm to head to the plane wreck.
[ Google Review ] Absolutely stunning waterfall!! I even like it more then nearby Skogafoss. It's easily accessible from parking (10min walking). Hard to describe, beautiful.
[ Google Review ] Beautiful, especially during the night. Be careful with walking during the night, it is a long walk (about 2.5miles) and even though it is "just" a flat, black desert you can get lost easily. Take enough lamps and batteries with you, warm clothing and some water. If you are lucky there can even be a party, which is extremely cool. You can get on a bus and it will take you to the airplane and then back to the parking lot, but I don't know how much is or how can you get on them. All in all, cool place, worth a visit, but choose the weather window well. More info: https://icelandtrippers.com/solheimasandur-iceland-plane-crash/ 2hr drive from Gullfoss Falls Based on google reviews and All Trails, will take about 1hr / 30mins to walk to and from the site. Want to avoid doing when it's starting to get dark as path can be hard to identify and get back to cars. Figure 2.5hrs time spent in total - hiking out to the crash, enjoying exploring it, and hiking back.
Black sand beach. With its enormous basalt stacks, roaring Atlantic waves, and stunning panoramas, Reynisfjara is widely considered to be the most beautiful example of Iceland's black sand beaches. • Supposedly you don’t need more than 1hr at the beach. Entrance to Reynisfjara Beach is free for the public. You will not need to pay for parking there either, so feel free to take as long as you'd like to visit during your Ring Road road trip. Could we aim leave Solheimasandur Plane Wreck by 4:30pm latest and check out Reynisfjara beach out around 5pm and try to catch the sunset? More info: https://www.expatolife.com/reynisfjara-black-sand-beach-iceland/

[ Google Review ] I traveled Iceland alone a few years ago, and stopped here on a cold, overcast morning. I greatly enjoyed soaking in the heated pool, under the day’s early mist, letting my mind take in the beauty that is traveling. A place like this makes the great big world seem not so overwhelming. 30min drive from the Gullfoss falls, for an afternoon relaxing in the hot springs. $50/person - much better priced than Blue Lagoon. That looks to be around $200 per person. Unsure if there’s a time cap. No longer a priority with us going to Sky Lagoon and Laugarvatn Fontana. Talked with Taylor D and agreed that we could eliminate and head to the black sand beaches after the waterfall.

[ Google Review ] So beautiful, looks like real diamonds on black sand! Such a beautiful ride to get to as well. Definitely worth the trip! Absolutely gorgeous 😍 if you have the opportunity definitely take it!! Pieces were so big we stood on them too take pictures!! Loved every minute of it ❤️ 😍 the whole island is amazing! Beautiful sights all around! Said to be a great place to see Icelandic seals and one of the best places in Iceland to spot orca whales. 2hr and 20min drive from Vik, Iceland. Jökulsárlón Glacier Lagoon is basically right across the street. Could look into boat tours More info: https://leaveyourdailyhell.com/2019/07/31/diamond-beach-iceland/ Don't imagine we'll need more than 1.5-2hrs walking around the beach.
The Glacier Lagoon Cafe looks pretty tasting and is noted for their fresh daily made sandwiches. Could be an option for lunch if we want.
[ Google Review ] Loved this place so much. The atmosphere is amazing, so many cool things to look at wherever you look! The coffee tastes great and they have many different options. Their own roasted El Salvadoran beans are my suggestion. The staff is incredibly kind and very knowledgeable on their craft. Can recommend this to anyone passing through as a one of a kind experience! If I wasn't here just on holiday I'd be getting my coffee here on the regular.
Cost: It looks like ferry cost one way is $15/per person and then $30 for the vehicle 3.5hr drive from Diamond Beach Would be looking to catch the 6:15pm (18:15) Ferry from Landejahofn. Recommended to get there 15mins before Ferry departure. So aim to get to the dock by 5:45pm just to be safe. To book: https://visitwestmanislands.com/tour/ferry-landeyjahofn-to-vestmannaeyjar/ For info: https://herjolfur.is/en/prices [ Google Review ] Great experience. I changed my reservation multiple times (mostly by email) and each time i got a prompt response. They know how to load and unload extremely efficiently. Ferry itself is clean and nice. Get a reservation even if you don't think you need one.
[ Google Review ] Amazing!
Taylor D Booked!! $148/2 nights ($71 per person) Free cancellation until 11:59 PM on September 13, 2022 NO PREPAYMENT NEEDED – pay at the property 8 min drive from the ferry port. Glamping & Camping is located in Vestmannaeyjar and has views of the mountains. All units include a seating area. Shared bathroom facilities are found in a building located nearby A shared kitchen, laundry machine and clothes dryer are also found there. [ Google Review ] Soooo much fun! Loved it here. We stayed warm in our room even though it got chilly outside! Comfortable and clean! Would love to go back here!!
[ Google Review ] One of the most famous/popular places to visit in Iceland. The lagoon itself is pretty spectacular with the icebergs that have calved from the glacier that feeds the lagoon. You can take boat trips into the lagoon during the warmer months. I haven't tried them so I cannot really comment. Looks like fun though. The lagoon empties into the sea nearby, this is the famous Diamond Beach'. The beach is strewn with chunks of ice from the lagoon. Well worth a visit. Tour Options: Amphibian Boat Tour Duration: 35mins Cost: $45 Description: During the excursion you sail among the huge icebergs in the picturesque scenery of Jökulsárlón. On the boat you get to taste the 1000 year old ice and if you are lucky you might even see some seals. The excursion takes 30–40 minutes and includes an English speaking guide who explains to you the geology and facts of the lagoon. ZODIAC BOAT TOUR Duration: 1hr Cost: $83 Description: On the Zodiac we are able to cover large areas of the lagoon and get closer to the icebergs than on the amphibian. When possible the Zodiac goes almost all the way up to the glacier (as close as safe).
1hr 40min drive from Diamond Beach, but on the route to Landeyjahofn for the ferry to Heimay Island. 1hr 48mins from Fjadrarglufur Canyon to Landeyjahofn. [ Google Review ] This was AMAZING! There is a bit of a hike to see this attraction but it’s worth it. It’s about a quarter mile or less. The path is layered with plastic grating to secure your footing. This attraction is fully green with opportunity to take photos everywhere. Along the way you’ll find yourself taking photos because you’ll think you got to the attraction but there’s even more to see and better. When you get to the end, there is a metal deck that hangs over a cliff. You can get a great photo of the waterfalls and of the river. The rocks are covered with green moss. There is a second level on the metal deck for another, even maybe better photo taking opportunity. Ask someone to take your photo and remember this place forever. We will. It was just beautiful!!

[ Google Review ] Giagantic as the name suggests. Turquoise blue waters that you could stare at for hours, unswimmable though. Be careful while walking over the rocks as they may get slippery while it rains
[ Google Review ] [September 2021] It was lovely to see the fort from a distance, with the striking black buildings and church along the waterfront against the green lava fields. After getting on site, there were information panels and a map with an overview of the area which helped me get my bearings and better understand what I was seeing. While I was unable to enter the buildings, it still made for a peaceful visit and photo op just slightly away from the main streets of Heimaey.
[ Google Review ] Gott has amazing vibes and great food. It has a hipster vibes and service was great! Everyone was so fast and super friendly. We asked locals where the best restaurants were and they all said this place! The food was absolutely delicious and was fresh. We had the nachos - the chips are phenomenal! I got the fish of the day, and it was fantastic. The mashed potatoes and veggies that came with the dish was so creamy and soft. My boyfriend got the tenderloin. They said they only served medium when we asked for it medium rare. But it was perfectly cooked medium rare! The veggies were very well done with the steak. But it was the sauce that made the dish come together.
[ Google Review ] A great stop when visiting the Westman Islands. We visited after completing a long hike, and the beer and atmosphere was exactly what we needed. Kind and knowledgeable staff, with a welcoming atmosphere.
Open from 10am-4pm $16 for general admission There's a 1hr boat trip combo..i think to the Beluga sanctuary which is about $75/person. https://belugasanctuary.sealifetrust.org/en/tickets/boat-trip-visitor-centre-combo/ I get the impression the boat wouldn't take us by Elephant Rock. [ Google Review ] Fantastic experience all-round, took the guided tour and it was brilliant to see both the puffins and belugas up close and learn so much about them! The staff is incredibly friendly and you can tell they care a lot and love educating and working with the public to create the best environment possible. Someone in the reviews here was disappointed to see the whales in a tank rather than outside in the sea pen - if you take the guided tour you'll learn all about the pen and their efforts for introducing them back into the ocean. They're not in the aquarium for tourist entertainment, so finding out about their story and the carers' learning curve is fascinating!

[ Google Review ] Had an amazing meal at Apotek. We went for a lunch menu and the food was excellent. Good quality, beautiful to look at and so delicious. Every dish was full of flavor and texture, it's impossible to say which is better than the other. Their sour dough bread was marvellous, crispy in the outside, soft on the inside, almost melt in the mouth, yet chewy enough to enjoy the soft texture. Staff are friendly and efficient. Highly recommended.
Sam Booked!! Cost: DILL menu 15.900 ISK ($120) Wine experience 13.900 ISK ($105) I think the wine experience would be in addition to the Dill menu, so I'm figuring $220 Reservation policy: Cancellation policy is 48-hours' notice prior to the time of booking. For all parties, if we receive a cancellation within this notice period of 48 hours, and we are unable to resell your table, a 11,900 ($90) per person fee will be charged to the card provided to secure booking. Will receive a reminder via email 48-hours prior to the reservation and a reminder via SMS 24-hours prior to the reservation. Reservations for 1-6 guests are offered 3 hours for dinner. [ Google Review ] Amazing experience. Food is very unique. I had the wine pairing and it’s worth it. Discovered amazing wine from Germany that was pairing perfectly with the food they offer. The service from the chefs the waiter and the wine expert was just perfect. Nice treat that we added to our trip.

[ Google Review ] Lovely geothermal area with bubbling and stinky water. Really enjoyed it! https://visitreykjavik.is/service/krysuvik
It's suggested to get to the Iceland airport 3hours before your departure time. It will take us a 45min drive to get to the airport and figure anywhere from 20mins - 1hr to get the rental car returned / reviewed. Would suggest we aim to leave Reyk by 12pm at latest on Saturday.
