I bought a round trip ticket from Chicago to DC flying to BWI in March 2021.
Tentative Airbnb location for a decent price $65 per night.
[ Google Review ] The only Laotian restaurant in DC, this 2018 Michelin-recognizes restaurant was well worth the visit! From the moment we walked in, we were impressed by the friendly staff and how quickly the place filled up for lunch. They have a solid range of options including a "jungle menu" for those craving items out of the ordinary (alligator was one thing on the menu). We really enjoyed the small dishes, especially the beef jerky and the chicken wings. While the larger dishes were tasty,, we'd recommend getting a sampling of smaller dishes as your meal (probably 2-3 per person). The portions were a good size and prices were very reasonable! We look forward to our next visit!
[ Google Review ] Sushi Taro has been my go-to restaurant for good sashimi for years. Everything else is decent. I live a block from the restaurant so I’ve been here for lunch, dinner, and special occasions with friends and my boyfriend. We’ve tried many things including the tasting menu. They are always busy and the servers are efficient. However the hostess has not always been friendly. This has not been an issue until my last experience. I had placed to-go order in the past and was able to pick up the order by giving my name. My last pick up for an online order was a different story. The hostess asked for the order number and I told her I don’t have it. She told me again to get my number and wouldn’t look up my order. I didn’t have my phone with me and thought I should be a simple order pickup. I ended up walking back to my place to get the order number. The service definitely could have been better with the Michelin rating. Unfortunately, I won’t be going back.
[ Google Review ] Pretty delicious food!! The place was a little small for seating area, but the food came out hot and ready. Everyone was super nice and helpful. Me and my friends, did a family style meal and tried a lil bit of a few things on the menu. No regrets!! Plus this place is right off the metro too
Hopefully they are at least starting to bloom! https://cherryblossomwatch.com/cherry-blossoms-transportation/
[ Google Review ] We got walk-up tickets for the tour of the Washington Monument - my first time ever going up the elevator to the observation deck. It was incredible. A truly great way to see D.C. after walking the Mall and to the monuments ... gave our little one a sense of everything she saw, how far she walked, and the connections between everything. It is worth getting up early to get walk-up tickets (just go to the ticket window at the back of the gift shop) ... tickets are FREE! Security is a little tight - literally because there isn't much room - so just be patient and prepared. It's so worth it!
[ Google Review ] The Thomas Jefferson Memorial is an outstanding piece of architecture among Washington DC landmarks. It is modelled after the Pantheon in Rome and serves as a symbol of liberty. Its features include marble steps, Ionic columns, and a bronze statue of Jefferson. The interior walls are ornamented with extracts from his famous letters and speeches as well as the Declaration of Independence. Undeniably, one can’t forget to mention the beautiful cherry blossoms that bloom near the memorial during the spring. During this time, the memorial becomes even more of a beautiful must-see site!
[ Google Review ] Absolutely love it here. The architecture, the history, exhibits and sense of pride walking throughout is just incredible. There are also tens and tens of local food trucks and many events that happen on a near weekly, if not daily, basis. It's definitely worth visiting and seeing all of the things that the National Mall offers.
[ Google Review ] One of my favorite hiking spots in the continental United States. So many different paths. Each one amazing. If you haven't been, you need to go. https://www.nps.gov/shen/planyourvisit/hours.htm
[ Google Review ] I have mostly good things to say about Atlas Brew Works. We appreciated their diverse list of brews. Ordered a few flights, so I think we tasted most of their beers on tap. The taproom was clean, and the staff was super friendly. We were able to have food delivered the brewery, which was great since we hadn’t had a chance to eat dinner yet when we arrived. There was stand-up that night, and let’s say it was rough, haha. But that wasn’t any fault of Atlas. I guess this is more of a warning in case you come during stand-up night.
[ Google Review ] New, well developed while maintaining the most alluring feature of the old Wharf- the fish market. There's something for all ages. Can enjoy the location without spending a dime. Takes DC to a new level. Finally utilizing one of the area's most precious assets- The Potomac River
[ Google Review ] I visited in February, before you usually get leaves or blossoms, but it was still awesome. I can only imagine how lush this place must be when it's not winter. Still, the lack of crowds gives a relaxed, meditative feel. Looks like plenty of parking and options for self guided tours. I especially recommend the bonsai exhibits.
[ Google Review ] Very impressed. Service was good and no nonsense. Cocktail Drinks were outstanding and an impressive whiskey list. The oysters were really very good and well complimented by their house made hot sauce. The lobster roll, while a little smaller than I had hoped for was outstanding as well. No complaints and i will definitely go again.
[ Google Review ] Small restaurant located in Penn Quarters with a few seats available. The menu is pretty straight forward with 4 things to choose from. Decided to get Luke's Trio to sample all of their rolls. The presentation is pretty simple and straight forward, so don't expect a fancy looking plate, but the amount of shrimp, crab, and lobster look stunning! My favorite is absolutely the Lobster Roll, and it definitely lives up to its name. The lobster is fresh and chilled, and I would order the normal roll next time. The crab is stuffed with layers and layers of crab meat, so it is definitely a win in my book. The shrimp is my least favorite because it tasted a little bland, but the quantity of shrimp in this small roll is awesome. Overall, would come here again to eat the Lobster or Crab Rolls!
[ Google Review ] An outstanding restaurant disguised as an oyster place. Ordered the haystack special brunch (eggs with cheese and scallions topped with perfectly fried oysters), mimosas, to the mouthwatering Kentucky bread cake dessert. Won't disappoint!
[ Google Review ] Definitely one of the better airports in the US. Truly international - unlike many "international" airports that only fly one flight to like Canada per month! - the airport is well maintained and well managed. It is very approachable - being near several highways. Best thing is, even Maryland's public train lines run past it. Makes for easy travel to Washington DC or to Baltimore - esp. if you're an international traveler on a budget.
