Notes:

[ Google Review ] Grand fort with several museums and mosques. Has a beautiful panoramic view of Cairo facing the pyramids which you can see in the distance. Nice way to spend a few hours but it's HOT. Take water and sunscreen. English translations on exhibits could use a redo - incomprehensible.

[ Google Review ] While the Valley of the Kings hosts a multitude of glamorous tombs, also known as palaces of eternity, it is the boy king that you often remember here. In the words of the British archaeologist Howard Carter, who opened the tomb of Tut in 1922: “At first I could see nothing, the hot air escaping from the chamber causing the candle flame to flicker, but presently, as my eyes grew accustomed to the light, details of the room within emerged slowly from the mist, strange animals, statues, and gold - everywhere the glint of gold.” Now multiply this gold by Ramses and Sety, then you realize that this was a man made valley of gold.
