From the internet: The Robot Restaurant is a must! The staff are so fun and energetic. We didn’t actually order any food but had a couple of drinks. There are a ton of local food places around the venue. The entertainment is amazing! There are lasers, flashing lights, giant animals, robots, humans and so much energy! It’s family friendly. They provide ear protection/ noise reduction headphones for children if needed.
From the internet: You walk through the big forest and can hear the sounds of the insects in the trees. And when I came to the temple it felt very peaceful. The atmosphere was calm. I got there 20 minutes before they closed. And it was a good decision. Because it wasn't much people then. A great experience for the first time travel to Japan.
From the internet: This street is famous and for good reason. There are so many unusual shops to look at and there are plenary of delicious crepes to try. Some of the locals have interesting fashion and it is constantly changing all day. We visited a few times for the crepes, but also spend a lot of time looking in the shops. This is a must do when you visit Tokyo. The train station is just at the top of the street so it’s easy to find as well.
From the internet: Amazing station and location!! The station is perfectly clean and functioning with mall center and good restaurants inside!!! Is like an underground city and everything works perfectly!!
From the internet: Weird store, aptly nicknamed the miscellaneous store. This place is easy to get lost in time-wise and just spend a few hours in it. But, I really enjoyed it. My favorite floors were the upper floors with loads of unique tools and supplies for crafts. If I had room in my apartment back in NYC I would have bought a few tools to bring home with me and play around with. Definitely worth the visit. Also, be careful in the pets section, sometimes it's hard to find the actual price tag and things can become a little pricier than you expect. However, this can be avoided by spending more time looking for the tag. Check it out and have fun exploring.
From the internet: Interactive and enchanting! We spent a few hours from mid-morning and we would've loved to stay a few hours longer as we had to rush through and completely skip the cafe. Definitely not like anything I've explained before. A feast for the eyes, ears, and your proprioceptive senses! I loved the colouring-in activities which then resulted in your work being animated along the walls and other surfaces around you in the exhibit. Highly recommend you use the lockers and go in with absolutely minimal or no bags etc encumbering your hands since there are plenty of activities that require you to use both hands or your balance.
From the internet: Amazing experience at dusk. Very busy but the shopping at the close by market was very unique. Great place to try some of the sweeter street food. Temple is nice to visit with some vendors inside selling some interesting things. Very busy but a great place to visit. Maybe worth around 1-2 hours. Train was easiest way in. Sky tower is not far and a good walk along the rivers isn’t far either
From the internet: Very nice fun place. A lot of small shops and restaurants around the Skytree. Moving on the Skytree is a must do. I recommend the priority entrance for less waiting time.
From the internet: Has an extensive selection of electronics. You could spend a day walking around the store. I've seen better prices elsewhere though.
From the internet: Simply amazing. Beautiful, full of vibrant green plants and well trimmed grass and bushes. One of the most beautiful and well kept gardens I've ever seen. Takes about an hour or so to visit them. The entrance is free. The bamboo garden and the section with trees gifted by the various prefectures were gorgeous.
From the internet: This place will forever hold a special place in my heart. I loved every minute of it. We enjoyed all the rooms and the short 20 minute movie they played us; although we had to sit on stairs for the whole duration. Nonetheless, was an enjoyable place. We enjoyed ice cream after, and took pictures.
From the internet: Unique experience in Kyoto. I highly recommend checking out. It's covered, so it's a great way of spending a few hours during a rainy day in the city. Lots of small shops and food stands.
From the internet: Busy at the start of the path but the crowds trail off as you get further up the mountain. Nice mountain hike, not too difficult. Good views over Osaka near the top. Lights come on after dark so you can do it during the late evening if you like for nighttime views and a spookier atmosphere if you like.
From the internet: Make your own ramen was so much fun! The staff was very accommodating and all the steps well and the resulting ramen was delicious!
From the internet: Gion, a must see in Kyoto. Many buildings are being redecorated, so the overall atmosphere is a bit spoiled. Nice to see many girls wearing traditional kimonos and, if you are lucky, you can meet a real geisha
From the internet: This was such an excellent experience. To start: If you plan on coming here and want to have a guided tour then book your entire trip around this. Do not book anything in Japan until you have a date and time (earliest as possible-I'll explain why further down). We were unable to get any tour time, so instead we went to the free museum and tasting room, not free. However it is SO reasonably priced! You get to try nearly impossible to find whiskeys for a fraction of the price. 25 year Yamazaki is 2900 Yen for a tasting....considering it is nearly 5-10K a bottle in USA, this is a steal! We were able to head to the gift shop fairly early, since we went right at opening. My husband wanted to go straight to the tastings after the self guided museum tour, but I strongly suggested we check out the gift shop for any whiskey he may want since it may sell out. We were able to snag 2 different bottles (Yamazaki single malt, and something else that's labeled in Japanese). FYI 1 bottle limit per person. We went back 1 hour later after we were done tasting to get another bottle for my family back home, and everything was sold out. This is why I said to book EARLY! If you cannot book early then I suggest coming early if you are looking to purchase Yamazaki or Hibiki whiskey straight from the distillery. Beautiful grounds, and simple to get to from Osaka or Kyoto!
From the internet: this experience was amazing!! be prepared for the hike - wear comfortable shoes and bring water! it's straight up a mountain for 20-30 minutes, but it's all relatively paved and easy enough if you go slow. The monkeys at the top of the mountain are AMAZING. They are so cute and comfortable around people. You can buy snacks in the store to feed to the monkeys from the viewing area. The view out to Kyoto is amazing as well. All the staff were very kind and polite. We could have stayed up at the viewing site for hours! Loved it.
From the internet: This is one of those places that visiting during the wrong time and season really discounts the entire experience. I felt the forest was rather small and felt more like a park, which is different from my expectation. Photo is an area where humans are not allowed in. If I were to redo this experience, I'd recommend: 1) Visit during summer, perhaps then the brown fallen leaves would not make a strong contrast with the bamboo, making the forest seemingly sparsely planted. 2) Visit early in the morning or late at night so you will see more bamboo than people, which would be better for photo ops. 3) Consider paying for a rickshaw. They get special tracks for them in the forest. Nonetheless if this is the closest you'll get to nature while in Kyoto, it is a nice getaway. The walking areas are mostly flat so it would be easier for those with knees issues as well. Also, there are many temples around for you to visit if you were inclined to.
